Tattoo Aftercare – Quick DON’Ts:
DON’T scrub or dry your tattoo with towels or rough materials.
DON’T apply thick layers of moisturiser—it can suffocate your tattoo.
DON’T let others (or pets) touch your tattoo until fully healed.
DON’T use exfoliators or harsh chemicals.
DON’T swim, soak, or expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 2 weeks.
DON’T scratch or pick at your tattoo.
DON’T share aftercare creams.
DON’T use any creams not recommended to you.
-
Keep your tattoo wrapped in cling film for 2 hours after finishing.
After 2 hours, remove the cling film, gently wash your tattoo, and do not apply cream.
On the first night, rewrap with clean cling film to protect your tattoo and bedding—no cream underneath.
In the morning, remove cling film and repeat gentle washing.
After this, keep your tattoo clean and apply a thin layer of moisturiser when dry (usually around day 3). Cling film is no longer needed unless your tattoo might get dirty.
If you rewrap for protection, never apply cream under cling film, change it every 2 hours, and wash & air dry each time.
Only use cling film until a protective scab forms—don’t leave it on for extended periods.
Remember: your tattoo will flake and is an open wound, so wear soft, non-scratchy clothing, especially at work.
-
Follow the instructions in the video unless I’ve specified otherwise for your tattoo style.
Removal timing:
Line work & light shading → 2–3 days
Solid black or colour → 12 hours
Remove carefully: never peel dry. Soak in the shower and ease off slowly.
Some blurriness under the film is normal—it’s plasma and ink trapped under the second skin.
Remove immediately if the second skin has a hole, tear, peel near the tattoo, water gets in, or you notice redness.
